The plot isn't all about revenge, there is a layer of depth to it. Trying to keep Kagura from awakening so she doesn't end up dealing herself back in the Reincarnation Sphere. You probably only played the game for ten or fifteen minutes before shitting this review out, though, so I can't blame you for not knowing.

Re: Can Quantum Break live up to the hype?

Great article. But I'm confused. 1080p at 30fps? Or 720p upscaled at 30 fps? Either way, I'm excited about this game and hope it delivers what's promised.

Re: Can Quantum Break live up to the hype?

Nice article.

Re: Darkest Dungeon review

What a load of crap! Micro management? hardly.....Only somebody with the attention span of a gnat, and the brains to match, would think that.

When you go through a dungeon you have a whole ONE menu to deal with - and it's dead simple. Outside of dungeon's you still only have ONE menu that's of importance, beyond that there's a whole THREE other things to consider that are all super easy to get to grips with.

The game's systems are incredibly simple to fathom, and it's only depth comes from the madness and unpredictability of your party. But that's what makes it so interesting, that even the most prepared party can still succumb to human failings, and start disintegrating into chaos.

Had this review said it was simplistic, repetitive and frustratingly hard - that I could understand. But this is yet another indication of why I think Games TM is totally crap, and I only come to this site because I'm bored. I certainly don't come for the reviews, as they have been awful for a long, long time now.

The magazine was essential reading when it first came out, and it's a pity that it became a complete waste of space.

Re: Behind the scenes of Dungeon Siege

Please fix the tag "Neil Hallford" to "Neal Hallford".

Re: The real science behind No Man’s Sky

In 500 years, the earth will be barren of most resources and life as we currently know it will be a luxury forgotten. Temperatures will be very warm, possibly unbearable except at the poles. For example, BF4 was a completely broken mess, Hardline was far more stable and with SW:Battlefront, was the best one, well for me personally anyway. (I am an Xbox One gamer.) I do agree that season passes and microtransactions will continue to ensure regular revenue for their respective companies.
However the wider picture of the above article is that with VR and the NX, there will be more platforms to enjoy games. Console games are getting better simply due to the fact that the developers have starting to fully realise the potential of the console platforms.
The Division is case in point, looks stunning, having played the respective alpha and betas plays very well too.

Re: Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson review

I give this review a 0/10 "A clumsy excuse for a review"

Re: The Game That Could Change Xbox One Forever

Crackdown 3 is going to be amazing.

Re: How Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Is Redefining Cyberpunk

The title is misleading, as this seems to do nothing to redefine the genre, but the game-play and story changes discussed in the article will be interesting. All the different endings were opened up in all the games up to this point simply by completing all the various optional tasks in the final level. So i suppose this time one's decision to play the game by sneaking, or by barreling through like a walking tank, will have a real impact on what endings will be accessible at the final level. But will that ultimately make it feel too much like a Bioware game? Only time will tell, i guess. i'm also looking forward to a more "organic" approach, story-wise, to the boss fights. Maybe they won't necessarily feel like boss fights at all; there may not be that pivotal point where everything comes to a halt and you have this one guy to fight. One of Invisible War's strongest points was that it was the only DX in the series that truly allows you to go through the whole game without causing the death of a single person. Though once in a while that required a somewhat clunky methodology, like talking to essential characters from the other side of indestructible glass. If that possibility is truly open in MD, hopefully they've devised a more elegant way to pull it off.

Re: How Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Is Redefining Cyberpunk

I'm just here for the screenshots

Re: 2016 could be the best year for gaming ever

I have my doubts. AAA publishers will probably continue to disappoint with broken /unfinished releases, pricey season passes and more microtransaction. Meanwhile indies suffer poor sales just for being indie and not looking "next-gen". VR lineups seem very mixed with plenty of games that have it only as an option and aren't built to take full advantage. RIGS, Eve Valkyrie and Robinson look nice though :-).

Re: Dead Or Alive 5: Last Round review

far·ci·cal
adjective:
of or resembling a farce, especially because of absurd or ridiculous aspects.

Seeing "misogyny" where there isn't any hatred for women is pretty absurd and ridiculous.

Re: John Romero on the past and future of Doom

Please, make a HD remake of 'Deus Ex'!

Re: Dead Or Alive 5: Last Round review

If you have a dictionary, that's the thing it got the wrongest.

Re: Dead Or Alive 5: Last Round review

There was a time when misogyny meant hatred of women. I don't disagree with this review as such, but compare this to the 7 given to Rise of the Tomb raider - one game is a soulless repetitive technical letdown on every platform (even the pc version has issues) and gets a 6.
Whereas Tombraider has only one real issue, that hardly seems gamebreaking (most of the review seems to be whining about inconsequential shit, or an attempt to be a "hardcore" - i.e snobby twat - game reviewer) and gets a 7.
So: either this review is being too kind, OR the other is being too harsh OR ...Games TM has descended into total mediocrity. My take is: all three are true! Funnily enough - based on your old review scores I would have thought Just Cause 3 was a four at best....standards have really dropped. You know, I always had to search high and low to find a copy of the magazine, usually a hefty trek to WH Smiths - who seemed to be the only shop to stock it! But it was worth the effort - now I don't bother.
The lack of consistency to your reviews is shocking, and a sad reflection of a magazine that used to stand out from the rest.

Re: Rise Of The Tomb Raider review

I don't know if this review was published earlier in the magazine, but I'm glad that its unlikely to hinder the game two months (?) after its release on here. I have yet to play this as I own a ps4, it is however a game still on my wanted list.
Reviews like this just sound like morons nitpicking about inconsequential stuff - the final point about the game design may be fair enough, but highlighting objects through her survival skill is a huge negative worth mentioning? It amazes me how fragile some reviewers mentalities are!
Lots of games do this - to make items of interest easier to spot, and there's most likely something in the options to turn it off if it bothers you that much!
I used to really like Games TM when it first come out, but this business of not putting a reviewers name to a review really bothers me, because then I would at least know who the idiots are who put out this elitest wanky guff! You seem to have two types of reviewers: those who gush about their favourites and overrate them, and the other type who pick holes in a game for very tenuous reasons - it's like you've turned all snobby and become Edge magazine.
Which is why I no longer buy Games TM - naff reviews, crap articles. Such a pity too, as it was an amazing magazine back in the day, but it, and this site, is a total waste of time (well, unless I actually wanted to read shite that annoys the hell out of me)

Re: Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson review

lol... what a pathetic joke of a review.
